Re-engineering or Work
Process Improvement
Improving business and work processes generates more profits
and makes an organization more competitive. For many
organizations, streamlining processes provide the biggest
opportunity to improve the bottom line.
A work process is any activity or group of activities that
takes an input, and adds value to it, and provides an output
to an internal or external customer. Most processes are very
complicated, and they include many steps or sub-steps.
In any large company, there are hundreds of processes. These
relate to management and its responsibility for planning,
organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling work. These
work processes further relate to development, accounting,
distribution, information systems, purchasing, production
controls, and such functional areas as operations,
engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, and human
resource management. For example, if one looks at processes
in the area of human resource management, they will find
numerous processes involved in selecting, interviewing,
hiring, orienting, training, and evaluating the performance
of an employee.
MDI helps its clients make their business and work processes
more user friendly and effective so they produce the desired
results, more efficient by minimizing the resources used,
and more adaptable to changing needs. Our services include:
identifying problems and needs with processes, and making
improvement recommendations or correcting the problems;
developing and introducing new processes; creating and
training work process teams, and ensuring that the
appropriate changes are made; eliminating unnecessary layers
in the organization to simplify work, and to reduce time and
cost; improving the work control system or computer database
and software used to schedule, track, and record work
processes, both performance and results; and, evaluating the
effectiveness of change and measuring progress.
